Typical SMS arrival

The catalog above lists every service for which our platform currently provides a working SMS verification code delivery channel. New services are added every week as our upstream partners expand their coverage. If a service you need is not on the list, contact support — we add new services on request when we have a confirmed working number range.

The rest of this page is a comprehensive guide to using the catalog effectively. Each section below covers a specific industry, the typical verification flow on those services, the success-rate profile we observe in our own dashboards, and concrete recommendations for which country to choose. Skim what is relevant, skip what is not.

💬Messaging & voice apps

Messaging app verification is the single largest category on the SMSVerifier platform, accounting for roughly thirty percent of all orders. Almost every modern messenger requires SMS verification at signup, partly to deter spam and partly to bind a single account to a single human-controlled phone number. The list of supported services is long: WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Viber, WeChat, Line, KakaoTalk, Discord, Snapchat, BeReal, Threads, Botim, IMO, Tango, Hangouts, Skype, Truecaller, Zalo, Hike, Talkray, Telegraph, and dozens of regional alternatives.

The two services in this category most relevant to most users are WhatsApp and Telegram. They behave very differently in terms of verification mechanics. WhatsApp uses one-time SMS codes that arrive on the assigned number; if the SMS does not arrive within ten minutes, WhatsApp falls back to a voice call, which most virtual numbers cannot receive. Telegram is more forgiving: it allows code delivery via SMS, in-app message to an existing Telegram account, or fallback voice call, and it gives users multiple attempts spread across a longer timeout window.

WhatsApp verification number — what to pick

For WhatsApp SMS verification, country choice matters more than for almost any other service. WhatsApp has invested heavily in fraud detection and silently refuses to send SMS to numbers that pattern-match their VoIP block lists. The countries with the highest measured WhatsApp success rates on our platform are Indonesia, Philippines, India, Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Avoid Afghanistan, Cameroon, and several low-tier African countries unless price is the absolute priority — success rates there hover around twenty percent.

Telegram verification number — what to pick

Telegram is much more permissive about number sources. Nearly any country in our catalog works with success rates above seventy percent, with the cheapest options sitting in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and India at under fifty cents per verification. If you need a Telegram account that looks like it belongs to a US user, choose USA, but expect to pay roughly $2-5 per verification due to higher upstream costs.

Discord, Snapchat, and others

Discord verification SMS is one of the easier verifications in our catalog — success rates above eighty-five percent across nearly every country, prices typically under fifty cents. Snapchat is harder because it has implemented sophisticated number fingerprinting; the highest-converting Snapchat country is Sweden (premium pricing) followed by France, Germany, and the UK. Avoid US numbers for Snapchat unless you have a specific reason.

📱Social media platforms

Social media verification covers the major networks: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter / X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Tumblr, Threads, BlueSky, Mastodon, and a long tail of regional networks like VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Weibo, and Mixi. Each platform has its own quirks around how it handles SMS verification and which number types it accepts.

Facebook phone verification is moderately strict. Facebook will accept most number types for initial account creation but applies tighter filtering on accounts that get flagged for unusual behavior. If you are creating a Facebook account that will not be used for any abusive behavior, almost any country in our catalog works fine. If you are creating accounts in bulk for promotional purposes, expect to land on Facebook's review queue regardless of which number you use.

Instagram SMS code verification is closely tied to Facebook's stack, which means the same general rules apply. Instagram has a separate fraud signal layer that looks at IP, device fingerprint, and time-of-day patterns alongside the SMS verification, so a successful SMS does not guarantee the account survives the first week. Use clean residential IPs and avoid mass-creation patterns.

Twitter phone code verification (now X) underwent significant tightening in 2023. Twitter began rejecting virtual numbers more aggressively, particularly during the original blue-checkmark rollout. As of late 2026 the situation has stabilized: most cellular-routed virtual numbers from tier-one countries (US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia) work for Twitter verification, though success rates have dropped from ninety percent in 2022 to around sixty-five percent today. Budget accordingly.

TikTok verification code is straightforward in most markets. TikTok routes through its own SMS infrastructure operated by ByteDance and accepts a broader range of numbers than Western competitors. Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam show the highest success rates at the lowest prices. US TikTok verification works but costs roughly four times more than SEA equivalents.

LinkedIn phone verification is rarely required for basic account creation but increasingly appears as a step when LinkedIn flags suspicious activity. Premium B2B-style countries (US, UK, Germany, Netherlands) have the highest acceptance rates. Reddit, Tumblr, Pinterest, and the smaller social networks are uniformly easy to verify and rarely fail across any country.

💸Crypto exchanges & fintech apps

Crypto exchange verification is one of the most demanding verification categories on the platform. Exchanges like Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, Gate.io, MEXC, BitMart, Crypto.com, Bitfinex, Bitstamp, and Bitget all combine SMS verification with detailed KYC checks. The SMS step is just the first of several gates, and successful SMS delivery does not guarantee you will pass KYC on the same account.

That said, the SMS step itself is well-supported on SMSVerifier. Binance account verification, Coinbase phone verification, and the rest of the major exchanges have high SMS success rates across most countries because the exchanges themselves do not aggressively filter virtual numbers at the SMS layer — they rely on later KYC checks for that. Prices for crypto exchange verification typically run in the $0.50 to $2 range depending on country.

Fintech and payments are a related but distinct category. PayPal SMS verification, Venmo, Cash App, Revolut, N26, Wise, Monzo, Skrill, Payoneer, and similar services all have stricter filtering than crypto exchanges because they sit inside the conventional banking regulatory perimeter. PayPal in particular has tightened its filters considerably in the last eighteen months; expect lower success rates than for crypto exchanges. The countries that perform best for PayPal verification are the US, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Sweden, and Australia. Avoid Eastern European and Asian numbers for PayPal — even when the SMS arrives, the account may be flagged for review.

Recommended country tier per fintech service

  • Binance, OKX, KuCoin, Bybit: Any country — SMS is easy. Prefer the country whose KYC you can pass.
  • Coinbase, Kraken, Bitstamp: Tier-one Western countries for highest acceptance rates.
  • PayPal, Venmo, Cash App: Strictly US, UK, or Western Europe.
  • Revolut, N26, Wise: EU/EEA countries (DE, FR, ES, IT, NL, PT) for best KYC compatibility.
  • Western Union, Remitly, MoneyGram: US or country matching transfer corridor.

💖Dating & relationship apps

Dating app SMS verification is uniquely difficult for one reason: dating apps have the strongest fraud-prevention incentives of any consumer category, because a single bad actor on a dating platform produces enormous user harm. Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Match, OkCupid, Badoo, Grindr, Feeld, Happn, Pure, Plenty of Fish, eHarmony, Inner Circle, and Coffee Meets Bagel all aggressively detect and block virtual numbers.

The good news is that SMSVerifier maintains relationships with the upstream providers most likely to source mobile numbers that pass dating-app filters. Tinder verification has measured success rates around forty-five percent on tier-one countries (US, UK, Germany) and seventy percent on second-tier countries (Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Australia). Bumble and Hinge are similar.

Practical advice for dating app verification

  • Spend more on the number — the $5-$10 numbers are dramatically more likely to succeed than the $0.50 numbers.
  • Prefer Sweden, Norway, Finland, or Denmark over USA when the country does not need to match your profile location.
  • Have a fallback plan: if the first number fails, the second number from a different country has a higher chance than retrying the same country.
  • Wait the full twenty minutes; dating apps sometimes delay SMS by ten-plus minutes as a soft fraud signal.

The smaller dating apps (Feeld, Happn, Pure, Inner Circle) are generally easier to verify than the major three (Tinder, Bumble, Hinge). Niche services like Adam4Adam, Grindr, Scruff, and HER also have lower fraud filtering and high success rates across most countries.

🛒E-commerce & marketplaces

Marketplace verification SMS is a high-volume use case for SMSVerifier. The marketplaces that require SMS verification at signup or for high-value actions include Amazon, eBay, Walmart, AliExpress, Etsy, Shopify, Vinted, Depop, Mercari, Poshmark, OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Gumtree, Leboncoin, Marktplaats, Allegro, OLX, Wallapop, Subito, and dozens of regional platforms.

The verification difficulty varies dramatically across this category. Amazon and eBay are relatively easy: high success rates in tier-one countries, prices below $1 per verification. Vinted, Leboncoin, and Marktplaats are notoriously difficult because these European marketplaces have implemented aggressive number-quality filters in the past two years, and many virtual numbers fail silently. We have measured Vinted success rates as low as zero percent for certain country-provider combinations — this is reflected in our circuit-breaker system, which automatically disables combinations with sustained failure rates above seventy percent.

E-commerce verification tier list

  • Easy (90%+ success): Amazon, eBay, Etsy, AliExpress, Shopify, Walmart, Target, Wayfair, Costco
  • Medium (60-85%): Mercari, Depop, OfferUp, OLX, Allegro, Wallapop, Subito, Avito, Gumtree
  • Hard (30-60%): Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace, Marktplaats, Bol.com
  • Very hard (under 30%): Vinted, Leboncoin (FR), Vinted (IT), 2dehands (BE)

For the very-hard category, our recommendation is to retry with a different country first and a different provider second. Often the difference between zero-percent success on Vinted FR and seventy-percent success is choosing a different combination — the underlying number range was simply flagged.

🎬Streaming, entertainment & subscriptions

Streaming services use SMS verification primarily at signup and during password reset flows. Netflix verification, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Paramount+, Peacock, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, and the major regional streamers are all reliably verifiable through SMSVerifier with success rates above eighty percent in most countries. Prices are uniformly low — usually under fifty cents.

The interesting subcategory here is geo-restricted streaming access. Many users buy a virtual number from a specific country specifically to register for a streaming service that is only available in that country. Examples include registering for BBC iPlayer with a UK number, signing up for ABC iView with an Australian number, or accessing M6+ from a French number. These flows work reliably on SMSVerifier because the streaming services do not generally apply VoIP filtering — they want subscribers, not friction.

Music streaming services (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Audible) follow similar patterns to video streaming. Verification is easy, prices are low, and country choice mainly affects which catalog you have access to and which payment methods are accepted.

🎮Gaming & betting platforms

Gaming platform SMS verification is a substantial category covering Steam, Epic Games, Battle.net, Ubisoft, EA, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Account, Roblox, Riot Games (League of Legends, Valorant), Discord Nitro, Twitch, and a long tail of smaller game platforms and launchers.

Most gaming platforms have moderate verification difficulty — success rates in the seventy-to-ninety percent range across most countries. The exceptions are Steam and Epic Games for accounts that need to make purchases; both platforms have additional layers of fraud detection that virtual numbers may trip during purchase flows even if they pass at signup.

Betting platforms are a different story. Gambling and sportsbook services (Bet365, DraftKings, FanDuel, William Hill, Bwin, Betfair, Pinnacle, Stake, 1xBet, BetMGM, Caesars, Unibet) are heavily regulated and typically require KYC verification beyond the initial SMS. Many of them will accept any phone number for the initial verification SMS, but the account will be unable to deposit or withdraw without completing identity verification. The phone verification step alone is easy; the broader account survival depends on factors outside SMS.

🚗Ride-sharing, food delivery & logistics

Ride-sharing verification is one of the most reliable categories on SMSVerifier. Uber, Lyft, Bolt, Grab, DiDi, Gojek, Yango, Careem, FreeNow, Cabify, 99, inDrive, Maxim, and the regional ride-sharing apps all accept virtual numbers at high success rates. Indonesia and Philippines numbers verify reliably for Gojek and Grab at the lowest prices on the platform.

Food delivery follows similar patterns: food delivery SMS verification for DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Postmates, Instacart, Deliveroo, Just Eat, Glovo, Wolt, iFood, Swiggy, Zomato, FoodPanda, Talabat, and the rest succeeds reliably across most countries. Note that some food delivery apps (DoorDash and Uber Eats in particular) increasingly check that the phone number country matches the delivery address country, so if you are trying to register for DoorDash you specifically need a US number, not just any country with low prices.

Logistics and shipping apps (DHL, UPS, FedEx, USPS, Royal Mail, La Poste, Aramex, Hermes, DPD) generally do not require SMS verification at signup but may use it for tracking or address confirmation later. SMSVerifier supports all of them.

✈️Travel & accommodation

Travel booking SMS verification covers a broad swath of services: hotel chains (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Accor), online travel agencies (Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Trivago, Kayak, Skyscanner, Trip.com, Agoda), home rental platforms (Airbnb, Vrbo, FlipKey), airlines (most major carriers worldwide), rail booking (Trainline, OBB, SBB, SNCF, Trenitalia, Renfe), bus operators (FlixBus, MegaBus, BlaBlaBus), and ground transportation aggregators.

Airbnb verification is somewhat strict due to past abuse patterns — expect success rates around sixty percent on tier-one countries. Booking.com, Expedia, and the major OTAs are easier, with success rates above eighty percent. Airline verifications are uniformly easy, as airlines generally do not aggressively filter numbers at signup — they care more about credit card and payment validation downstream.

The interesting travel-adjacent category is visa and immigration services. Several countries' visa application portals (US ESTA, UK ETA, EU ETIAS, Australia ETA, Canada eTA) increasingly require SMS verification as part of the application flow. These verifications are easy in technical terms but require numbers from specific countries — verify exactly which country the visa portal expects before purchasing.

⚙️Productivity, cloud & AI services

The productivity-and-cloud category has grown rapidly in the past three years. Google account verification, Microsoft, Apple ID, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Cloudflare, AWS, Azure, GCP, DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, Hetzner, Heroku, Vercel, Netlify, Render, Fly.io, Railway, Supabase, PlanetScale, MongoDB Atlas, Redis Labs, Pinecone, Algolia, Twilio, Stripe, Plaid, and increasingly the AI services (OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Cohere, Replicate, Midjourney, RunwayML, Stable Diffusion APIs).

Google account verification deserves special mention. Google is one of the strictest services on the planet for SMS verification — success rates on virtual numbers have dropped from above eighty percent in 2022 to roughly forty percent in late 2026. Google increasingly demands that the number be confirmed as a real mobile number with active subscriber history. SMSVerifier still supports Google verification but recommends choosing the most expensive tier of numbers (premium mobile pools from US, UK, Germany, Australia) for highest success.

AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) have rapidly tightened their SMS verification in the past year as the value of pre-aged accounts has risen. The hardest of these is OpenAI ChatGPT, which now refuses most virtual numbers outright. Anthropic Claude is more permissive. The picture changes month to month as these services adjust their fraud-detection layers.

Office productivity tools (Notion, Slack, Asana, Trello, Monday, ClickUp, Linear, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Canva, Miro, Loom, Zoom, Webex, Google Workspace) are uniformly easy to verify with high success rates across most countries.

🌍Regional & niche services

The long tail of regional services makes up roughly half of our catalog. These are platforms that dominate a specific country or region but have minimal global awareness. SMSVerifier has full support for the major regional services in every region we cover.

🎯How to choose the right virtual number

Picking the optimal virtual number is the difference between a smooth verification and a frustrating refund cycle. The rules are simple once you understand them.

Rule 1: country matters more than provider

For ninety percent of services, the country of the virtual number affects success rate dramatically more than the upstream provider. A WhatsApp number from Indonesia will succeed on virtually any upstream; a WhatsApp number from Afghanistan will struggle on every upstream. Country choice is the single biggest lever.

Rule 2: cheap is sometimes the wrong choice

The cheapest country for a given service is often the country with the worst success rate. The economics are straightforward: providers price numbers based on the cost they pay the underlying operator, and operators charge more for higher-quality SS7-routed mobile numbers in tier-one countries. If your verification has any real-money stakes, pay the extra dollar.

Rule 3: match country to service country

If you are signing up for a US-only service (DoorDash, Cash App, Venmo, certain US bank apps), get a US number. If you are signing up for a UK-only service (BBC iPlayer, certain UK retailers), get a UK number. Mismatched country numbers will often pass SMS verification but be flagged later by other fraud signals.

Rule 4: check the success-rate badge

Our service pages display a real-time success-rate indicator for each country. Numbers below fifty percent are flagged with a warning. Use this signal — it reflects actual recent order outcomes from real customers, updated every fifteen minutes.

Rule 5: have a fallback country

Plan for one failure. Pick a primary country and a backup country in case the first attempt does not succeed. The backup should ideally be a different region (US primary, UK backup; or France primary, Germany backup) to maximize the chance of routing through a different upstream provider with a different number pool.

🔧Troubleshooting verification failures

Even with optimal choices, some verifications will fail. The most common failure modes and what to do about them:

SMS never arrives at all

The target service silently refused to send the SMS because it detected the number as virtual. Solution: cancel before timeout to get an instant refund, then try a different country with the same service. If three countries in a row fail for the same service, try a different upstream provider tier (use the "Try Different Provider" button on the order page).

SMS arrives but the code is rejected by the service

This is rare and usually indicates either a typo or a code that has already been used. Verify you copied the code exactly as it arrived (no extra spaces, no transposed digits). If the issue persists, request a resend from the target service; the second SMS often works after a brief retry.

SMS arrives much later than expected

Some services intentionally delay SMS for ten to fifteen minutes as a soft fraud signal. This is normal. Do not cancel during the timeout window; wait for the full twenty minutes. If the SMS does not arrive by then, your balance is refunded automatically.

The service shows "verification not available"

Means the target service has determined the number is unusable before even sending an SMS. Solution: try a different country immediately — do not retry with the same country, the same range will be refused again.

The order shows "expired" but you received the SMS

Race condition: the SMS arrived in the last few seconds of the timeout window and the auto-expire fired before our system processed it. Contact support; we can manually reconcile the order in most cases.

SMSVerifier is a legitimate SMS receiving service with a clear acceptable-use policy. We support a wide variety of lawful use cases — privacy-conscious signups, geo-restricted access, automated testing pipelines, business-account management, and many others — but the platform is not a tool for fraud or abuse.

Permitted uses

  • Creating accounts on services you have a legitimate reason to use.
  • Protecting your personal phone number from being shared with services that do not need it permanently.
  • Operating multiple verified accounts where the target service permits it (e.g., a personal and a business account on the same marketplace).
  • Automated testing and quality assurance pipelines for software you own or are authorized to test.
  • Accessing geo-restricted services from countries where you have a legitimate connection.

Prohibited uses

  • Mass account creation for spam, fraud, or platform manipulation.
  • Impersonation of real individuals, businesses, or government entities.
  • Bypassing account bans or sanctions imposed by target services for legitimate cause.
  • Acquiring numbers to harass, threaten, or stalk individuals.
  • Any use that violates the laws of your jurisdiction or the target service's terms of service in ways that cause real-world harm.

Accounts engaged in prohibited activity are terminated and remaining balances may be forfeited. Our full terms are published at /terms and our refund policy at /refund. We cooperate with law enforcement on properly-documented requests but never voluntarily share user data with third parties.

🔍Deep dives on the most-requested services

The five services below account for the largest share of orders on SMSVerifier. They are also the services where small differences in country choice, timing, and provider routing translate into the largest swings in success rate. Read these if you intend to use any of them seriously.

WhatsApp — the hardest mainstream verification

WhatsApp deserves its reputation as the most difficult mainstream SMS verification on the modern internet. Meta has invested heavily in detecting and blocking non-mobile numbers because WhatsApp accounts are an extremely high-value target for spammers, scammers, and platform abusers. The detection is multi-layered: SS7 reputation databases, real-time number-quality scoring, range-based blocklists, and behavioural fingerprinting all combine to refuse SMS delivery to numbers that pattern-match historical abuse. The result is that pure-VoIP virtual numbers have effectively zero success rate on WhatsApp, while properly-routed mobile virtual numbers from certain countries still work reliably.

The countries that consistently produce the highest WhatsApp success rates on SMSVerifier are, in descending order: Indonesia, Philippines, India, Brazil, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Mexico, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. These are mostly markets where WhatsApp has been the dominant messaging app for years and where local operator integration is mature. Tier-one Western countries (US, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Australia) work for WhatsApp but cost three to ten times more for marginally higher success rates. Avoid Afghanistan, Cameroon, Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, and most low-tier African markets for WhatsApp — success rates there often sit below twenty percent, even though the numbers cost almost nothing.

If WhatsApp returns its "fall back to voice call" prompt, you have effectively failed the verification — almost no virtual numbers can receive voice calls reliably. At that point the right move is to cancel the order and try a different country rather than waiting for the voice fallback. WhatsApp will also reject re-attempts on the same number for several hours, so do not retry a failed number; pick a fresh one.

Google — the second-hardest, getting harder

Google account verification has tightened steadily since 2022. The current state of the art on Google's side appears to be a combination of carrier-level number validation, history-based account risk scoring, and step-up requests for users who fail the initial silent number check. Virtual number success rates on Google have dropped from around seventy-five percent in early 2024 to roughly forty percent in late 2026, with no obvious sign that the trend will reverse.

The countries with the highest Google success rates on SMSVerifier are the US, UK, Germany, and Australia, with prices typically in the $2-$8 range per verification. Cheaper Eastern European and Asian numbers work less reliably and sometimes pass the SMS step only to be flagged by Google's secondary review queue within hours of account creation. If you need a Google account for any high-value purpose, budget for the premium country tier.

Telegram — the easy one

Telegram remains the easiest major messenger to verify on the platform. Telegram's verification approach is more permissive because Telegram itself has different abuse-prevention priorities (channel-based moderation, fast account deletion for bad actors) and does not need to apply heavy number-quality gating at the registration step. Nearly every country in our catalog works for Telegram with success rates above seventy percent, and the cheapest options (Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, India) sit below fifty cents per verification.

The only Telegram failure mode worth mentioning is the "delivered to your other Telegram client" routing. If the number has been used for Telegram in the past, Telegram may attempt to deliver the verification code via the existing Telegram session associated with that number rather than via SMS. The virtual number provider does not see this code at all because it never arrives via SMS. The order will expire and refund automatically, but you will lose the time. If a Telegram order expires without the SMS ever arriving, switch to a country that has not been heavily used for Telegram before.

Tinder — the strictest dating app

Tinder has the strictest virtual-number filtering of any major dating app. Match Group (Tinder's owner) treats account abuse as a critical product risk because a single bad actor can affect dozens of legitimate users. The filtering operates at multiple levels: number-range blocklisting, behavioural fingerprinting at signup, IP correlation with the number's region, and post-signup heuristic review.

Despite these defenses, Tinder verification on SMSVerifier still works in roughly forty-five percent of attempts on tier-one countries (US, UK, Germany) and seventy percent of attempts on premium-mobile countries (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Australia, Netherlands). The trick is to spend more — the $5-$10 numbers are dramatically more likely to succeed than the $0.50 numbers. We strongly recommend Sweden or Denmark for Tinder verification when the country of the resulting account is flexible.

Binance — the high-volume crypto exchange

Binance is by far the largest crypto exchange on the SMSVerifier platform, accounting for roughly four percent of all orders. Binance's SMS verification is straightforward: almost any country in our catalog works with success rates above eighty percent. The price varies widely by country, from $0.30 in Indonesia to $3 in the US. The constraint on Binance accounts is not the SMS step but the subsequent KYC; choose the country whose KYC documents you can supply, not just the cheapest SMS country.

📚Glossary: SMS verification terminology

The SMS verification industry has accumulated a substantial jargon. Here are the terms you will see across SMSVerifier and the broader market.

Activation

The full lifecycle of buying a number, receiving an SMS, and either completing or cancelling the order. Each activation is a discrete billing event on the platform. Some providers use "activation" interchangeably with "order".

OTP (One-Time Password)

The short numerical code delivered via SMS that proves possession of the phone number. Typically four to eight digits. Sometimes called a verification code, security code, confirmation code, or activation code by different services.

Virtual number

A phone number that exists in software rather than on a physical SIM card. Virtual numbers can be routed through real cellular operators (high quality) or through pure-VoIP infrastructure (low quality, frequently blocked). SMSVerifier exclusively sources from real-operator-routed virtual numbers.

VoIP

Voice over IP. Phone service delivered over the public internet rather than the traditional cellular network. VoIP numbers are technically functional phone numbers but are detected and refused by many high-value services.

SS7

The legacy signaling protocol that underpins the global mobile network. Numbers properly attached to SS7-routed operators are treated as real mobile by most verification systems. Numbers that exist only on the public IP network without SS7 attachment are flagged as VoIP.

Number range

A block of phone numbers assigned to a specific operator or virtual operator. Anti-fraud systems often track number ranges rather than individual numbers, which means a single bad actor using one number in a range can taint the reputation of the entire range.

Upstream provider

The wholesale SMS number provider that SMSVerifier purchases numbers from. We currently work with HeroSMS, 5SIM, SMS-MAN, SMSPVA, GrizzlySMS, and OnlineSIM. Each upstream maintains its own pool of numbers and its own pricing.

Circuit breaker

An automatic system that disables a service-country-provider combination when its measured success rate falls below a threshold. SMSVerifier implements per-combination circuit breakers so we never sell you a number we have strong reason to believe will fail.

Aggregator

A platform that sits on top of multiple upstream providers and routes user orders to the best available option in real time. SMSVerifier is an aggregator. Most of our visible competitors are single-source resellers.

Refund-on-fail

The policy of automatically returning the order amount to the user's balance if the SMS does not arrive within the timeout window. SMSVerifier implements refund-on-fail with a twenty-minute timeout.

Half-open circuit

The transitional state of a circuit breaker after its block period expires. In half-open state, a single probe order is allowed through to test whether the underlying issue has resolved. If the probe succeeds, the circuit fully closes. If it fails, the circuit re-opens.

Provider priority

The order in which SMSVerifier prefers upstream providers when multiple have stock for a given service-country combination. Priority is set by us based on observed quality, balance health, and cost. Users see only the final routed result.

KYC (Know Your Customer)

Identity verification typically required by financial services and gambling platforms after the initial SMS step. KYC is the second gate after SMS. Successful SMS verification does not guarantee successful KYC.

Geo-restriction

A service-imposed limitation on where users can register or use the platform. A virtual phone number from the geographically-permitted country is one common way to bypass geo-restriction at the signup step.
